Pomp and glamour as Museveni Confirms Attendance as Children of soldiers across the country gather to congratulate him at Kololo airstrip next week

Leaders of the Children of soldiers have confirmed their readiness to host the commander-in-chief at the Kololo ceremonial ground for a victory thanksgiving event on 18/04/2026.

According to the chairperson of the organizing committee of this event, Ms Faibe Nayebare, preparations are progressing well despite financial constraints. The organizing team requires over 1 billion Ugandan shillings to fund ongoing activities coordinated by various service providers, and this has already been achieved by press time.

The Northern Uganda Regional Cluster, led by Mr. Simon Peter Otema, includes Lango, West Lango, Madi-West Nile, Kitgum, and Nebbi is expected to arrive in Kampala for preliminary meetings earlier next week on April 14, 2026, in preparation for the major event scheduled for April 18, 2026.

The Most Rev. Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, will be the main celebrant. The Rt. Rev. Henry Luke Orombi, retired Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, is set to deliver the main sermon during this event.

In a letter received by this publication, the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has confirmed his attendance at the event.

According to Mr Ntege Micheal Brian, the chief mobilizer of this event, transport has been secured to transport members to and from the event. He adds that they expect joy and happiness for this opportunity accorded to them by the president to meet the children of soldiers.

Mr Joshua Katamba Luttamaguzi, the finance manager in charge of this event, also confirmed that with support from the government, service providers have already been given the green light to supply everything needed for the success of this event. He also adds that the only challenge they had was that they first paid service providers who were not pre-qualified as per the PPDA standing orders, but this was later rectified, and everything is moving on. Over 22,000 people are expected to attend this event.
